Blackmer cabin was located on Buffalo Pass, about three miles from Swinehart ranch. The cabin was a popular ski trip stop for many locals from the late 1920s to late 1950s. A newspaper article dated 1937 described the location for skiers this way: " the uninterrupted ride down from the cabin is more than worth the climb to get there."
